Considering the needs and expectation of today’s society for professionalism in law enforcement, the Fullerton College Basic Police Academy places great emphasis on preparatory training. Consequently, the recruit officer curriculum is specifically designed to achieve technical competence and basic proficiency in all areas of police training.
The Basic Police Academy is committed to the philosophy of community oriented policing. This partnership, the police working with the community to solve mutual problems, is the vehicle by which communities hopefully will be able to overcome unwarranted actions by citizens. We are committed to developing peace officers who will be able to forge ongoing partnerships with their communities which facilitate the ability to identify and solve problems together. To accomplish this, we are committed to ensuring our graduates will be thoroughly prepared to work cooperatively in the multifaceted cultures in which they serve.

The Fullerton College Police Academy presents the Basic Police Academy – Extended Format, every January and August.
The Basic Police Academy – Extended Format provides recruits with a part-time alternative to the full-time academy format. This ten (10) month program, meeting nights and weekends is over 1000 hours of P.O.S.T. certified training, required for a Basic Police Certificate.
Recruits who successfully complete the Academy will receive the P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate and 52 college units, which can be applied toward the requirements for an Associate of Science Degree. Additionally, meeting the rigorous standards of the Police Academy will enhance a recruit’s career opportunities within the law enforcement community.
The estimated cost of the Basic Academy is approximately $4,308.00. The cost covers tuition, various administrative costs, ammunition, equipment and informs. Fullerton College is located at 321 East Chapman Avenue in Fullerton.
